Heritage covers about 2,600 acres along Rogers Road and Heritage Lake Road, south of downtown Wake Forest. Developer Andy Ammons started it in 2000 and built it in phases. Those include Heritage North, Heritage South, Heritage Fairview, and the Heritage Links townhomes. The semi-private Heritage golf course, designed by Bob Moore, runs through the middle of the community.
Listings here range from Parkside Townes townhomes to large homes on the fairways. That spread means a Heritage search can include a starter townhome and a move-up golf home on streets a few minutes apart.
If you want a golf community in Wake Forest, Heritage and Hasentree are the two big choices. Hasentree is gated, with a private Tom Fazio course and one HOA. Heritage has open streets, a semi-private course, and many more townhome and mid-priced choices.
If you want the course view without a club commitment, Heritage gives you more room to choose. Our guide to the best neighborhoods in Wake Forest compares both with seven other communities.
Heritage has two master associations, Heritage Wake Forest HOA and Heritage Wake Forest Two HOA, and the phase decides which one covers a home. Many sections add a sub-association on top. On 2026 listing sheets, the master fee was often about $285 a year. Sub-association fees for the Wake Forest townhomes in Parkside Townes, Heritage Links and Heritage Fairview ran about $260 to $290 a month.
I ask for both budgets and both sets of covenants early in due diligence. The sub-association budget shows whether it covers roofs and exterior paint.
Heritage Elementary and Heritage Middle are on Rogers Road, and Heritage High is on Forestville Road. The shared name does not set the assignment. Enter the street address in the WCPSS base school lookup, and watch the draft 2027-28 enrollment proposal WCPSS released on October 20, 2026.
I can pull the HOA documents for the Heritage sections you like before you tour, so you know the full monthly cost up front. Heritage's architectural review covers fence, deck, and paint changes, and some sections have their own committee.
